Securing Real-Time Internet-of-Things
Todays embedded and cyber-physical systems are ubiquitous. A large number of critical cyber-physical systems have real-time requirements (e.g., avionics, automobiles, power grids, manufacturing systems, industrial control systems, etc.). The current trend is to connect real-time embedded devices to the Internet. This gives rise to the real-time Internet-ofthings (RT-IoT) that promises a better ...
متن کاملPoster Abstract: fVM, a hard real-time Java implementation for cyber-physical systems
Real-time Java is emerging as a platform for building mission-critical embedded systems. The real-time variants of Java, including [3], [4], are attractive alternatives to Ada and C as they provide a cleaner, simpler, and safer programming model. Unfortunately, current real-time Java implementations have trouble scaling down to very hard realtime embedded settings, where memory is scarce and pr...
متن کاملA Methodology for Unified Assessment of Physical and Geographical Dependencies of Wide Area Measurement Systems in Smart Grids
Wide Area Measurement Systems (WAMS) enable real time monitoring and control of smart grids by combining digital measurement devices, communication and control systems. As WAMS consist of various infrastructures, they imply complex dependencies among their underlying systems and components of different types, such as cyber, physical and geographical dependencies. Although several works exist in...
متن کاملCyber-Physical Control Systems: Vulnerabilities, Threats, and Mitigations
Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are yielding novel problems and solutions for security researchers. CPSs connect computerized controllers and human supervisors with physical systems used in the energy, transportation, water, manufacturing, and other sectors. A recent and well-known attack is the Stuxnet computer worm [1], which targeted Siemens industrial software used to control nuclear fuel proc...
متن کاملTraceability of Information Flow Requirements in Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering
The secure information flow between a cyber-physical system and its environment has evolved into a critical factor. To comply with security regulations, engineers of cyber-physical systems need to trace information flow requirements from their specification to the software design. However, due to the interdisciplinary engineering of cyber-physical systems and their inherent real-time behavior, ...
